About the PLAC® Test
The PLAC test is the only blood test cleared by the FDA to determine the risk of ischemic stroke associated with atherosclerosis.
Predictive. Powerful. Specific.
- Predictive
- The PLAC test can help determine if you are at risk for having an ischemic stroke years before the stroke would have occurred
- The PLAC test provides your physician with a clearer picture to help determine if you need to reduce your risk
- Powerful
- If you have elevated Lp-PLA2 levels, you are twice as likely to suffer an ischemic stroke as similar individuals
- Individuals with the highest levels of Lp-PLA2 and blood pressure are six times more likely to suffer an ischemic stroke
- Specific
- Elevated levels of Lp-PLA2 are indicative of vascular inflammation associated with the formation of plaque within the arteries; this may play an important role in triggering a stroke
- The PLAC test is the only available test that can measure your Lp-PLA2
New Tool for Your Physician in the Fight Against Stroke
Lp-PLA2 is a new risk factor for ischemic stroke that can be ordered by your physician. The PLAC test is not designed to replace traditional risk assessment markers, and should be used in conjunction with these tests to determine your absolute stroke risk profile. Remember, ischemic stroke can be prevented. Ask your doctor if the PLAC test is right for you.
