About the PLAC® Test
The PLAC test is a blood test cleared by the FDA to assess coronary heart disease risk. The test must be ordered by your physician. In conjunction with clinical evaluation, the PLAC test can aid in predicting an individual's risk for coronary heart disease.
Predictive. Powerful. Specific.
- Predictive
- The PLAC test provides your physician with a clearer picture so he or she can determine if you need to reduce your risk
- The PLAC test provides critical information about your risk of developing coronary heart disease that no other test can provide
- Powerful
- If you have elevated Lp-PLA2 levels, you are twice as likely to suffer a coronary event as similar individuals who do not have elevated Lp-PLA2 levels
- The PLAC test allows your physician to detect your risk for coronary heart disease; if you are found to be at high risk, your doctor can develop a treatment program to reduce that risk
- Specific
- Elevated levels of Lp-PLA2 are indicative of vascular inflammation associated with atherosclerosis; this may play an important role in triggering a heart attack
- The PLAC test is the only available test that can measure your Lp-PLA2
The PLAC Test Aids in the Fight Against Coronary Heart Disease
The PLAC test for Lp-PLA2 is a risk marker for coronary heart disease that can be ordered by your physician. The PLAC test is not designed to replace traditional risk assessment markers, but should be used in conjunction with these tests to determine your absolute CHD risk profile. Remember, heart attacks can be prevented. To find out if you are a candidate for the PLAC test, please consult your doctor.
